    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns lost 2-1 to Pyramids FC in the second leg of the Caf Champions League final away in Cairo on Sunday.

The result saw the Brazilians missing out on being crowned African champions on a 3-1 aggregate scoreline.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has commented on the Brazilians' defeat and suggests what they might need to do in future.

    WHAT BROOS SAID

“The goalkeeper of Pyramids saved two, three chances of Sundowns," said Broos as per iDiski Times

"But okay those things are happening and maybe Sundowns have to look a little bit what happened in the previous season because since I’m here, they played quarterfinals, they played semi-finals, they played finals, and every time they don’t succeed.

“So maybe they have to change something or to do something, because they have to think about it. Because you can’t every year be so far and then when it’s money time you lose," the Belgian added.

“It’s up to them now, but we don’t have to forget either what they did, we have to be proud as South Africans that they performed, what they performed.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The exclusion of Sundowns captain Thermba Zwane from both legs of the Champions League final headlined Madandawana's defeat.

That left coach Miguel Cardoso facing a big question which he felt uncomfortable answering.

Under Cardoso and since returning from injury in April, Zwane has never started a match for Sundowns.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SUNDOWNS?

The Brazilians now switch focus to the Fifa Club World Cup and their first match will be against South Korean side Ulsan HD on June 18 before they take on Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense.

It is to be seen if Cardoso will bow down to pressure and make Zwane his central figure at the World Cup.
