    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has called for patience among the club's supporters amid a poor run of results.

While acknowledging the struggle they are currently facing, Nabi sought to protect his players and said he would rather be attacked than his players.

The Tunisian tactician is also confident that the struggle will end before the season is concluded.

    WHAT NABI SAID

“I think the confusion is we need to score. If you need to win, you need to score. If you control the game… We look at the statistics after the game, statistics all for Kaizer Chiefs," Nabi said in his post-match reaction as quoted by iDiski Times.

“And it’s not the first game like that. The majority of the games are like that. I think the solution is clear. The solution for this situation is 100% clear. Maybe the time is not for us now for some things.

“But my message is patience! We don’t have any solution now, any patience, and continue to support the team. But I trust the fans of Kaizer Chiefs. Love the team too much. I want patience. Give me patience," he added.

“I’m very sorry. Honestly, I’m very sorry for the result. I’m the first man with the big frustration. We understand altogether the frustration for the team, but please don’t panic. Don’t panic! We continue to work seriously to give 200% for the team.

“Don’t panic, please, and don’t attack the player. I’m open to attack me now; it’s normal, but don’t attack the player. Protect the team and the player because the season is not finished, and I’m sure the situation will change in the future," Nabi concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After losing to struggling Richards Bay before the international break, Chiefs were not lucky upon returning to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) action on Saturday.

At the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, their efforts to return to winning ways were frustrated by Golden Arrows, who picked up a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals by Nduduzo Sibiya and Knox Mutizwa. Yusuf Mart scored Amakhosi's goal.

The defeat meant that the Soweto giants will remain with just 29 points from 23 games. With positive results rare, there is increased spotlight on Nabi's future.

The question remains whether Nabi can turn Chiefs into a successful outfit as anticipated when he arrived. Some are calling for the coach to be given time at the club, while others feel there will be no change under the former Yanga SC coach.

    WHAT NEXT FOR NABI?

Amakhosi have a chance to avoid a third-straight league defeat when they host TS Galaxy in their next game on April 5.

A defeat again will be disastrous, and this will just increase pressure on Nabi and his playing unit.

A game against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final also awaits Nabi and his charges.
