    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates drew 0-0 with Las Palmas in a friendly match at Marbella Football Center on Thursday.

It was the Buccaneers' third match in their pre-season camp in Spain and they remain winless.

The Buccaneers coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has reacted to Thursday's match.

  • WHAT OUADDOU SAID

"Today's game was not easy," Ouaddou told Pirates' media.

"We can say we ran behind the ball, we played against the most pressing team. So it is a positive point even if we didn't have the ball.

"We can say that I found a very big team spirit, very strong and during the season we will need this team spirit, especially when we are going to play away in the Champions League.

"So we have to take some positive points."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In their first match in Marbella, Pirates lost 2-0 to English League One side Bolton Wanderers and they then went on to draw 1-1 with Cypriot side Pafos before Thursday's game.

They would be hoping the Spain camp strengthens them to surpass what they did last season when they reached the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

The Buccaneers will also be pushing to win the Premier Soccer League as their top domestic priority, while Ouaddou would be targeting to maintain his predecessor Jose Riveiro's reputation as a Cup King.

    WHAT NEXT FOR PIRATES?

The Soweto giants conclude their friendly matches schedule in Europe by taking on Granada on Saturday.

After that, they begin their MTN8 title defence when they face Polokwane City in a quarter-finals clash on August 2.
