    Ouaddou makes history at Pirates

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has guided the Buccaneers to seven successive wins in all competitions following Tuesday's 2-0 Premier Soccer League victory over TS Galaxy.

He becomes the first coach of the Soweto giants to lead his side to such a run while at the same time keeping clean sheets in seven straight games in the PSL era.

The Buccaneers last conceded a goal in August when they drew 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-finals and since then, they have been on a roll.

    Eclipsing Pirates' great coaches

Other coaches to have inspired Pirates to seven consecutive wins are Viktor Bondarenko, who achieved that in 1999, and Jose Riveiro managed that feat twice in 2024.

But the Soweto giants were conceding goals in those winning streaks, making Ouaddou above his two predecessors by keeping clean sheets in his winning run.

Ruud Krol, who is regarded as one of the greatest Pirates coaches of all time, never managed Ouaddou's piece of history even after leading the Soweto giants to the PSL title, Nedbank Cup and MTN8.

    Expectations now high in Ouaddou

More is now expected from Ouaddou after a clean run of form Pirates are currently enjoying.

It is a high bar the Buccaneers have set for themselves this season.

This is a strong hit back at critics who doubted the French-Moroccan when he lost his first two PSL games of this term.

    Will the spotless run continue?

Pirates will be under scrutiny to see if they continue with their impressive run of form when they host Siwelele FC in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 on Saturday.

These are the same opponents they recently edged 1-0 in a PSL match, a result that forms part of their incredible form.
