Orlando Pirates signed 14 players in the just-closed Premier Soccer League transfer window, with 12 included in their squad and two loaned out to gain experience.

The Buccaneers have already won one trophy after lifting the MTN8 for the fourth consecutive time and are one of the favourites to win the PSL title, as well as go deep into the CAF Champions League.

Having led his side in 11 matches across all competitions so far this term, Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has assessed his new signings.

Ouaddou's assessment of Bucs new signings

“[Oswin Appollis] is a special player," Ouaddou said after the winger scored the late winner against Siwelele, as per Sowetan Live.

"It means that the scouting department of Orlando Pirates did well... they know exactly the kind of players they want for the club, for the identity of the club, and for the way that Pirates are playing.

“Not only him [Appollis], I think the quality of players Pirates signed this season is just fantastic, and I have told those who haven't played many games that everyone will have his time to play; they must be patient.”

    Joining Bucs, pathway to Bafana

Some of the new signings who have so far shone bright for Pirates and are enjoying regular football include Sipho Mbule, Appollis, Kamogelo Sebelebele, Sihle Nduli, Lebone Seema and Tshepang Moremi.

After joining Pirates, Mbule earned himself a return to the Bafana Bafana fold while Sebelebele and Moremi made their way into Hugo Broos' provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda.

What transfers will Pirates pursue next?

Following what looks like some spot-on scouting of players, it is to be seen if Pirates will be as active when the transfer window reopens in January.

Last-minute attempts to sign Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch drew banks and he could be the Buccaneers' number one target in January should he remain on top of his game.
