Only Chris Evans, the BBC Radio 2 presenter, earns more than Lineker, raking in between £2.2 and £2.25m per year.

“To others I present Match of the Day. To other really really old people I used to kick a ball about. But it works. I think it’s by far the longest celebrity endorsed campaign going."

Lineker has done extensive work with Leukaemia charities since 1992, when his son was diagnosed with the disease as a baby.
He was a patron of Leukaemia Busters between 1994 and 2005 and has encouraged people to donate blood in television adverts for CLIC Sargent. The former striker also opened a Leukaemia Care branch in 2006.
Lineker also works with Sport Relief and presented the 2018 live show, which included former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge boxing reality TV star Spencer Matthews.
