Premier League Betting: Jose Mourinho favourite to be first top flight manager to leave

Jose Mourinho is 5/1 (6.0) favourite to be the first Premier League manager to leave this season.

The Manchester United man has notoriously struggled, or at least underperformed, in his third season at each of the four clubs he has managed– leading bookmakers to suggest a repeat may be in the offing.

William Hill make Mourinho 5/1 (6.0) to be the first manager to leave this season, which would make it four jobs in a row where he has failed to make it past three seasons. The same bookmaker are also offering 6/4 (2.50) on him to leave the club before the final day of the season.

After first gracing England’s top flight with Chelsea in 2004 following his unlikely Champions League success with Porto, things began to fall apart in his third season despite winning five major trophies in the time he was there.

He left the Blues just a month into his fourth term after a poor start, and has since completed three seasons at the same team just once.

That came at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, with his final, trophyless, term there prompting the Portuguese to return to Chelsea.

His stint at Inter, where he won the treble, lasted just two seasons, whilst his second spell at Chelsea ended after two-and-a-half campaigns as the club languished 16th in the league – a point above the relegation zone.

Jose’s lamenting of United’s pre-season tour in the International Champions Cup, as well as saying he 'fears' the start of the season and being frustrated about a lack of transfer activity, potentially points towards another early exit.

William Hill make Watford boss Javi Gracia second-favourite to go first at 6/1 (7.0), with the Hornets facing both Tottenham and the Red Devils inside their first five matches.

Leicester’s Claude Puel, much maligned for his defensive style of play, is 7/1 (8.0), whilst Rafa Benitez and Neil Warnock are both available at 8/1 (9.0).
