  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Lionel Messi scored a brilliant free kick Saturday against the Philadelphia Union, sparking a late comeback as the Heronsdrew their Eastern Conference rivals 3-3 at Subaru Park.

Lining up from outside the box in the 86th minute, the Argentine took his wand of a left foot and struck home to bring Miami within a goal late as Miami ultimately secured a point on the road.

The result was the third straight in which Miami conceded three goals, but some late magic from the Argentine maestro helped them ensure they didn't leave empty handed.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Messi now has six goals on the season, with the Argentine starting to find his shooting boots in recent weeks. It was his third goal in his last five matches.

However, even with their heroic comeback on Saturday, Miami are winless in seven of their last eight matches across all competitions. Their form has taken a massive hit, with their defense in particular coming up short. The club has conceded 13 goals in their last four games, and across the eight-match stretch, have conceded an astounding 23 goals.
