Chelsea could RECALL Trevoh Chalobah to ease defensive injury crisis as Crystal Palace loan break clause comes to light - with Eagles team-mate Marc Guehi a shock January target
Chelsea could reportedly trigger their option to recall Trevoh Chalobah and are also considering a move for Crystal Palace team-mate Marc Guehi.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea may recall Chalobah from his season-long loan at Palace in January amid the injury issues for Blues centre-backs Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. And Fabrizio Romano claims Enzo Maresca's team have 'discussed' recruiting Eagles captain Guehi but that move won't be easy as he has 18 months left on his deal and would be an expensive purchase.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Chalobah was frozen out at Chelsea last summer before moving on loan to Palace - a place where he is getting regular game time. If Chelsea recall him, those minutes may be hard to come by as Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill, and Tosin Adarabioyo will be ahead of him in the defensive pecking order. Chalobah may be a more realistic move as Newcastle United tried and failed to sign the 24-year-old Guehi last summer and his £65 million ($81m) price tag may not have dropped much since then.
DID YOU KNOW?
Chalobah and Guehi are both Chelsea academy products but the latter made a career for himself at Palace after leaving the Blues in 2021 for £18m ($22.5m).

WHAT NEXT?
It remains to be seen if Chalobah will be recalled by Chelsea and if the Blues will make a move for Guehi in the January transfer window.
