Major Soccer League's Orange Crush have signed forward Lyle Foster on loan from Burnley FC through June 2027, with a option to make it a permanent transfer in a year's time. The deal, which was announced on the striker's 26th birthday, brings to a close weeks of speculation over his future.

Reports emerging on Wednesday afternoon suggest the Burnley striker is edging closer to a surprise switch to Major League Soccer, with new suitors in the United States closing in on a potential loan agreement for the South African international.

Lionel Messi and Co. remain favorites, but strong starts from Nashville, San Jose and Vancouver have the league nicely poised heading into a long break.

When the 20-year-old moved from Orlando Pirates to Chicago Fire, it triggered a massive upsurge on the Chicago club's social media, which saw 180,000 followers join in the first 48 hours. That figure has since grown to over half a million South African social media accounts now following the club, making up a quarter of their entire online audience.
