Wilfried Zaha on target in Crystal Palace stalemate

Wilfred Zaha was on the scoresheet for Crystal Palace in their 1-1 draw against Metz in a pre-season friendly encounter on Saturday.

The Eagles who took part in the English Premier League Asia Tournament in Hong Kong continued their preparations for the new season with a tour of France with a game against the Ligue 1 outfit.

The Ivory Coast international broke the deadlock for the English Premier League side after 56 minutes.  He volleyed home first time after a beautiful cross from Andros Townsend on the right.

Metz would not go down without a fight however and got the equaliser through Senegalese striker Ibrahim Niane. The 18-year-old first controlled a miscued header from Luka Milivojevic around the half way line; he put on the afterburners to leave his marker in his wake before powering home a strike into the top corner.

Frank De Boer’s men will tackle German side Schalke 04 at Selhurst Park on August 5th for their final tune up game ahead of the new league season.
