Chelsea secured their first clean sheet in nine months after defeating Everton, though the victory was marred by a serious injury to goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The Argentinian was stretchered off following a heavy collision, paving the way for young prospect Mike Penders to make an unexpected Premier League debut and help his side maintain the shutout.

David Moyes was left incensed by the officiating at Goodison Park as Everton saw their unbeaten start to the season come to a grinding halt against Chelsea. The Toffees boss believes his side were on the wrong end of several key decisions that ultimately swung the momentum in favour of the visitors.
