Lineker has worked with Walkers crisps since 1995, and even revealed in a recent interview that several younger fans believe he is only famous for selling the snack.

“I saw two teenage girls talking amongst themselves saying ‘it’s definitely the Walkers crisp man’ as though I wasn’t there," he told the London Evening Standard in 2016. "To that generation I am that man. 

“To others I present Match of the Day. To other really really old people I used to kick a ball about. But it works. I think it’s by far the longest celebrity endorsed campaign going."

Lineker has done extensive work with Leukaemia charities since 1992, when his son was diagnosed with the disease as a baby.

He was a patron of Leukaemia Busters between 1994 and 2005 and has encouraged people to donate blood in television adverts for CLIC Sargent. The former striker also opened a Leukaemia Care branch in 2006.

Lineker also works with Sport Relief and presented the 2018 live show, which included former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge boxing reality TV star Spencer Matthews.
