VIDEO: Lozano's opener gives Mexico first-half lead on Germany

Mexico got just the start it wanted against defending World Cup champion Germany.

Juan Carlos Osorio's men came out of the blocks pressing the Germans and forcing Joachim Low's side into some uncharacteristic mistakes.

But the final ball proved elusive for much of the first half, with El Tri wasting several good chances to hit on the break.

Germany's resistance finally faltered in the 35th minute, with Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez setting up Hirving "Chucky" Lozano as Mexico finally hit on the counter.

It began with a quick one-two between Hernandez and Andres Guardado near midfield, with the midfielder setting the forward free down the right and leaving German defender Jerome Boateng stranded between two opponents.

Hernandez slid the ball across to Lozano, who cut back onto his right foot and beat Manuel Neuer for the game's opening goal.

Mexico took their 1-0 lead into halftime, and while Juan Carlos Osorio's side couldn't add to the lead in the second half, El Tri took the win they craved over Germany with a 1-0 result.
