Antonio Conte’s league leaders go into the game nine points clear at the top of the table, having lost just three times so far this season.
One of those defeats was inflicted by Arsenal at the Emirates, in a 3-0 win back in September, but defeat on Saturday would see the Gunners fall 12 points behind the Blues.
That gap would prove insurmountable, according to Pires, who feels victory would be enough for Chelsea to go on and claim the title in Conte’s first season in English football.
“If Chelsea beat Arsenal then I think the Premier League is done,” the former Arsenal man told Omnisport. “Yes because Chelsea, for four months have played very well.
“They are a very good team, very compact. They have an intelligent philosophy.
“They play together, they change the team under Antonio Conte because now they play with three defenders, obviously the new football, the new generation.
“Of course, Chelsea is stronger but we [Arsenal] need to believe in this opportunity.”
Arsenal go into the game on the back of a damaging defeat to Watford in midweek, while they have lost their last four games at Stamford Bridge, scoring just once.
