Manchester United vs Huddersfield Town Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping to make a triumphant return to Old Trafford when Manchester United take on Huddersfield Town on Boxing Day.

The interim coach has already lifted the mood with a 5-1 away victory over Cardiff in his first game in charge, the club’s first five-goal Premier League haul since Alex Ferguson’s final match in charge.

Latest odds

Unbeaten in 15 home games against this opposition since 1930, his side are 6/25 (1.24) favourites with 888Sport to record another morale-boosting victory here.

The Terriers come into this clash on the back of a five-game losing streak, and are 12/1 (13.00) outsiders to pull off a shock win in this one.

Two of the hosts’ last three home matches have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 21/4 (6.25) on them being forced to settle for a single point yet again.

Team news

Alexis Sanchez remains out despite returning to training, while Romelu Lukaku is on compassionate leave. Marcos Rojo, Scott McTominay and Chris Smalling are all injury doubts.

Abdelhamid Sabiri, Aaron Mooy, Tommy Smith and Danny Williams are ruled out through injury, with Rajiv van La Parra and Jonathan Hogg also doubtful.

Confident Red Devils

While the increasingly disappointing performances under Jose Mourinho had many questioning the quality of the players, the display in Cardiff underlined what they are capable of when given the freedom express themselves.

The Red Devils did actually score four goals in Mourinho’s final home game against Fulham, and will be confident of another free-scoring performance now the shackles are truly off.

However, the fact they failed to keep a clean sheet for their 16th league game in 18 suggests the defensive problems are far from resolved, making a high-scoring clash look all the more likely against David Wagner’s men.

Predictions

All in all, odds of 17/10 (2.70) are well worth backing on over 3.5 goals being scored for United’s seventh league game in seven, and Huddersfield’s second in succession.
