Everton have agreed a €32 million (£28m/$37m) deal to land Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, according to Sport

Mourinho lays down transfer gauntlet


Jose Mourinho has called for Manchester United's transfer chiefs to up their game in the final days of the market, claiming the Red Devils will face a 'difficult season' if they do not make more signings.

“The other clubs that compete with us, they are really strong, or they already have fantastic teams and squads like Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City... or they are investing massively, like, for example, Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody."

Guardiola chasing new midfielder before deadline


Manchester City will push to give Pep Guardiola another specialist defensive midfield option before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

"We would like to find maybe one more because we don't have two specific players to substitute Fernandinho," he said after his side's 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield.

Witsel to join Dortmund in €20m transfer


Borussia Dortmund have finalised a deal to sign Axel Witsel from Tianjin Quanjian for €20 million (£18m/$23m), according to Sport Bild.

Witsel has been a leading summer target for Dortmund and the Belgium international has agreed a four-year contract worth €10m (£9m/$12m) a season.

The midfielder is due to link up with Dortmund at a training camp in Switzerland on Monday after finalising his departure from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian.

Foden set to stay with Man City


Phil Foden looks set to remain at Manchester City this season rather than head out on loan to gain experience.

The 18-year-old impressed in Sunday’s Community Shield win over Chelsea after featuring sporadically for City last season.

However, rather than be sent out on loan, Foden is expected to play a role in Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans with the Premier League champions.

Chelsea keeper continues to be linked with Madrid

Maurizio Sarri intends to hold face-to-face talks with Thibaut Courtois after his agent urged Chelsea to let the goalkeeper join Real Madrid.

Belgium international Courtois has been on an extended break after helping his country to the World Cup semi-finals, though his future has remained a topic of discussion with his contract up next year.

Courtois' agent Christophe Henrotay has claimed his client, a former Atletico Madrid loanee, wishes to return to the Spanish capital where his children live ; and Sarri will address his future once he returns to the club on Monday.

Antonio Cassano has announced another sensational U-turn in his retirement plans, stating that he wants to return to playing with a Serie A team and joking that he can 'play until he's 60'.

The striker has been almost two years out of action, last announcing that he would be hanging up his boots to focus on spending time with his family after a series of flip-flopping statements over whether he would continue playing.

Despite having said he was 'done' with football, it seems Fantantonio has found a much-needed work-life balance, with the 36-year-old stating that he is ready to make a difference in Serie A.

Man Utd defender to join Villa on loan


Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is set to complete a loan return to Aston Villa, according to The Sun.

Tuanzebe spent time on loan at Villa last season, but injury restricted the 20-year-old to just five appearances.

However, he is now poised to rejoin Steve Bruce’s side on loan for the season as he looks to build up his first-team experience.

Juventus want €20m for Sturaro


Juventus are demanding €20 million (£18m/$23m) for Premier League target Stefano Sturaro, reports

The Serie A champions are looking to trim their squad and are willing to offload Sturaro, but have already seen Fiorentina, Genoa and Eintracht Franfurt shelve their interest due to the asking price.

Leicester, Newcastle and West Ham are also reported to be interested in Sturaro as Juve wait on offers for the 25-year-old.

Vazquez expects Modric to stay


Lucas Vazquez is confident his in-demand team-mate Luka Modric will stay at Real Madrid.

Modric is wanted by Inter Milan and, while Madrid are insistent the Croatia international will not be sold, the Serie A side are not prepared to give up without a fight.

However, Vazquez isn’t concerned about the midfielder leaving, saying: “We are calm and counting on him. We hope he returns to enjoy Madrid.”

Leicester close on £10m Ghezzal deal


Monaco midfielder Rachid Ghezzal has undergone a medical ahead of a £10 million ($13m) move to Leicester, reports Sky Sports News.

Leicester are reported to have agreed the fee with Monaco and the Algeria international is also expected to settle on personal terms over a move to the Premier League.

Leicester defender still a Mourinho target

Manchester United are preparing an offer for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports News.

Maguire is one of the centre-halves who United boss Jose Mourinho is interested in signing, with Toby Alderweireld and Yerry Mina also linked with moves to Old Trafford.

Ahead of the Premier League transfer window closing, and United’s game against Leicester on Friday, the Red Devils are planning an approach amid reports Maguire will cost £80 million ($104m).

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is ready to make an approach for Benfica defender Ruben Dias, according to Record.

Aulas is aiming to bring in a new centre-half before the transfer window closes and has already targeted the likes of Barcelona’s Yerry Mina and Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof.

He is now looking at Dias, and is preparing to offer €30 million (£27m/$35m) plus €15m (£13m/$17m) in add-ons, with the 21-year-old having a €45m release (£40m/$52m) clause in his Benfica contract.

Perez aiming to convince Spurs to sell

Florentino Perez will try to persuade Tottenham to sell Harry Kane in a €250 million (£222m/$289m) deal and aim to convince the striker to move to Real Madrid, claims Don Balon.

Madrid president Perez has endured a frustrating summer after seeing Cristiano Ronaldo join Juventus in a €100m (£89m/$116m) deal and subsequently fail to bring in a big name as a replacement.

He is now considering a last-ditch effort to grab Kane, but faces a battle to tempt Spurs into selling as he prepares to offer the England international a salary of €30m (£27m/$35m) a season.

Gibson excited by Burnley move


Here’s more on the news that Burnley have equalled their club-record fee by signing Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough for £15million ($20m).

The 25-year-old arrives at Turf Moor on a four-year deal that reportedly matches the sum paid last year by Sean Dyche’s side to coax striker Chris Wood from Championship outfit Leeds United.

Wolves target £26m Traore deal


Wolves are aiming to complete a £26 million ($34m) deal to sign Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore before Thursday’s transfer deadline, reports TeamTalk.

The newly-promoted Premier League club are in talks with Boro over a deal for Traore and are prepared to pay more than his £18m ($23m) release clause.

That is because Wolves can pay the £26m sum in instalments, rather than as a one-off payment as stipulated in the release clause.

Mina's future 'top secret' as Man Utd move collapses


Yerry Mina’s future is considered to be "top secret" by Barcelona, with the Colombia international having seen a proposed move to Manchester United collapse.

Everton, who were another of those keen on taking the South American to England, have also walked away from transfer discussions after being frustrated in their efforts to do a deal.

Mina is now facing an uncertain future, and the club’s vice-president, Jordi Mestre, is giving little away when it comes to possible movement ahead of the summer transfer deadline.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric will return to training on Wednesday as rumours continue to swirl around his future, according to AS.

Inter Milan are keen to sign the Croatia international, but Madrid’s new coach Julen Lopetegui is insistent that Modric  is going nowhere.

Serie A side Inter are not ready to give up on signing Modric, who will resume training on August 8 as had been agreed for several weeks following his World Cup exertions.

Foulquier eager to find route out of Watford


Dimitri Foulquier is eager to secure another move away from Watford, with it possible that the Frenchman could leave Vicarage Road without making a competitive appearance.

The 25-year-old full-back was signed by the Hornets in the summer of 2017, but immediately sent out on loan to Strasbourg.

He has been given no opportunity to prove his worth in England and, wth that situation unlikely to change under Javi Gracia, the former France U21 international admits that he needs to look elsewhere for game time.

Inter ready to join Bernard chase


Inter are ready to battle with rivals AC Milan to sign Brazilian winger Bernard on a free transfer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bernard has left Shakhtar Donetsk, but has yet to find a new club, with Premier League duo Chelsea and West Ham showing an interest.

Milan have also been tracking Bernard, but now Inter are considering whether to make a move of their own.

Everton chase Man Utd defenders


Everton will try to sign Chris Smalling or Victor Lindelof, if they are unable to agree a deal for the defenders’ Manchester United team-mate Marcos Rojo, claims TeamTalk.

Rojo has been strongly linked with a move to Goodison Park, and United are expected to offload a centre-half if they secure a new defender of their own before Thursday’s deadline, with Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld now the prime target.

However, if Rojo doesn’t move to Everton, then they will look to either land Smalling permanently or Sweden international Lindelof on loan.

Cillessen set for Barcelona stay


Ernesto Valverde hopes Jasper Cillessen remains at Barcelona after the Netherlands goalkeeper suggested his future is unclear.

When asked in the mixed zone after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by AC Milan in the International Champions Cup if he will move on before the end of the transfer window, Cillessen simply responded: "I don't know."

But head coach Valverde made it clear he wants the Dutchman to remain at Camp Nou and provide competition for Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Chelsea are planning a move to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey before the close of the transfer window, reports the Daily Express.

Ramsey has just a year remaining on his Arsenal contract and Chelsea are hoping to persuade their London rivals to sell the £35 million-rated ($46m) Wales international.

Anthony Martial appears to have been left out of the travelling squad for Manchester United's final pre-season friendly clash against Bayern Munich, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The Frenchman has been strongly linked with an Old Trafford exit and is apparently angling to leave the club, leading to Jose Mourinho leaving him out of the fixture at the Allianz Arena.

World Cup trio Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones, meanwhile, have made the trip to Germany and are likely to feature at some point against Niko Kovac's side.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has distanced himself from talk of a move to Marseille, with the Frenchman set to discuss his future with Maurizio Sarri in the coming days.

West Ham have dropped their pursuit of Porto attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi, according to Sky Sports News.

The 28-year-old is one of a trio of Portuguese-based players the Hammers were chasing, with deals for fellow Porto man Moussa Marega and Benfica teenager Joao Felix still believed to be on the table.

Brahimi however will not make the move to London after personal terms could not be agreed between the player and the club.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitiz is hopeful of convincing former club Liverpool to loan the Magpies Danny Ings, reports The Sun on Sunday.

Ings, who is also wanted by Southampton, has been tipped to leave Anfield in the current window, with the Reds seeking around £20m for the striker.

But Benitez, who won the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool, is hopeful that he can secure the player’s services on a temporary basis instead ahead of Premier League rivals Southampton.

Klopp hints at further Liverpool upheaval


Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that there may yet be more upheaval at Anfield before the end of the transfer window.

Rangers want to bring Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson to Ibrox on loan, per the Daily Record.

Steven Gerrard’s side are seeking a centre-back for the upcoming season, after the departure of Portuguese pair Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso, and have the 21-year-old Cherries man in their sights.

Marseille seek Porto's Agu


Marseille are looking to bring Nigeria midfielder Mikel Agu to the club on a season-long loan from Porto, according to Le 10 Sport.

Agu, who missed out on a place in the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup in Russia, spent last season on loan at Bursaspor.

The Ligue 1 outfit are looking at a temporary deal for the coming campaign, with a view to a permanent move if it proves fruitful for both parties.

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is all set to join Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan deal, according to the Daily Mail.

Newcastle look set to acquire the services of Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon on a year-long loan from West Brom, in return for Dwight Gayle, reports the Express and Star.
