    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs were reportedly after Young Africans striker Clement Mzize last season.

The 21-year-old is currently in top form and has scored three goals for Tanzania at the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship.

That has seen him being linked with North African giants Zamalek and Esperance, as well as a club from Saudi Arabia.

Young Africans president Hersi Ally Said says they are ready to listen to offers for the player.

    WHAT HERSI SAID

“Clement is still with the national team at CHAN,” Hersi told FARPost.

“We will review the procedures and the requirements from the market and our side as well when he comes back from the international duty.

“He still has a few more years with us. We believe he’s the right player to stay with the club. But there’s also a lot of interest in him going abroad," he added.

"We’ll consider keeping him at the club, but also assess whether there’s a need to let him go. We will make the right decision.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs appear to have rested their interest in Mzize, but the Soweto giants are still in the hunt for a prolific goal-scorer.

With Young Africans saying they are open to negotiating for the player's transfer, that could make Amakhosi rekindle their interest in the Taifa Stars man.

Nasreddine Nabi's side lacks a reliable forward, and the Tunisian might seriously consider Mzize.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

There is still time to sign new players as the PSL transfer window will only close on September 22.

That provides time for Nabi to continue with his transfer business and try to beat Esperance and Zamalek to the signature of Mzize.
