    Ouaddou's options in attack

Orlando Pirates started the season with Boitumelo Radiopane as their main forward, but the 23-year-old has struggled to run himself into a prolific scorer.

That has left Tshegofatso Mabasa and Evidence Makgopa being swapped to start by coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Former Pirates attacker Benedict Vilakazi has picked the striker he thinks is best suited to Ouaddou's style of play.

    'Bucs don't need Makgopa upfront'

"How Pirates are playing, I don't think they need Makgopa in that striking force. You've got [Oswin] Appollis on the left, [Tshepang] Moremi on the right, [Relebohile] Mofokeng behind; those are players who will create chances," Vilakazi said as per Soccer Laduma.
"They just need you [as a striker] in the box. And the player that's always there in the box is Mabasa. That's why I'm saying the type of football Pirates are playing, they don't need a striker that will make runs, like Makgopa does, when he goes left or right," added the former Bafana Bafana star.
"They don't need that, because you've got Moremi with speed and skill, you've got Appollis with speed and skill, you've got Mofokeng with speed and skill, the only thing they need is to give service and you punish in the box. There's nothing wrong to play Makgopa, but he needs to be in that box."

    Mabasa vs Makgopa

Mabasa has managed four goals and an assist in nine games across all competitions this season.

His fellow Buccaneers forward Makgopa has just one goal, scoring from the penalty spot in a PSL match against TS Galaxy, and has three assists in 11 matches.

However, Bafana coach Hugo Broos still prefers Makgopa in the national team while overlooking Mabasa.

    What comes next?

Pirates still have a number of competitions to compete in, both on the domestic front and in Africa.

Those are opportunities for the Buccaneers forwards to prove they can be reliable strikers.
