  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Red Stars defeated Seattle Reign 2-1 on Sunday and it was a driving run from Swanson, from the edge of her own box, that kickstarted the victory - ending with her teeing up Ally Schlegel to break the deadlock with just four minutes on the clock.

Swanson then doubled the lead before half-time with an emphatic finish in the box that gave Chicago some breathing space that proved necessary, as Tziarra King pulled one back for the Reign in the latter stages with a beautiful hit.

  • WHAT SCHLEGEL SAID ABOUT SWANSON'S ASSIST

"When I see Mal picking up the ball, I know she's going to attract a lot of defenders," Schlegel said after the game. "I think there was a moment, actually, when we played Seattle last time when I was super tight to her, the ball hit the back of my foot and we were not on the same page. That moment was almost exactly the same so I knew I needed to stay wide this time."
