    WHAT HAPPENED?

    South Africa secured a classic U20 Africa Cup of Nations victory in style by beating Sierra Leone 4-1 at the Suez Canal Stadium on Tuesday.

    Amajita took the lead in the 13th minute when Jody Ah-Shene, with an assist from Shakeel April, scored.

    The goal separated the group rivals going into the halftime break before more goals were registered upon resumption. Amajita's captain of the day, Neo Rapoo, doubled their lead at the hour mark when he scored with an assist from Shene.c

    Momoh Kamara, the tournament's top scorer with four goals, scored for the West Africans in the 69th minute before Raymond Mdaka's charges launched a decisive aggression late in the second half.c

    Second-half substitute Mahlangu scored a brace to all but ensure South Africa emerged with a healthy victory. The SuperSport United striker found the back of the net in the 86th minute before scoring again in the 89th minute.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Sierra Leone faced their first defeat in Egypt, as they had won two of their games and drawn once and have already qualified for the knockout stage.

    While this was Amajita's third match, it was Sierra Leone's fourth and last group game.

    Sierra Leone remain top of Group A with seven points, while South Africa are second with six. Zambia, Egypt, and Tanzania are third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

    WHAT NEXT FOR AMAJITA?

    Mdaka's side will engage Zambia in the final group game, where they will need a point to advance to the knockout stage.

    The Southern African nations will clash on May 9.
