    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Cape Town City midfielder Shakeel April was the star of the show as his 27th-minute goal handed South Africa their first victory at the 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations finals.

    April's goal handed Amajita a Group A win over Tanzania at the Suez Canal Stadium on Wednesday.

    It was recovery by South Africa who suffered a 1-0 defeat by hosts Egypt in their opening match on Sunday.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    By picking up their first set of maximum points, Amajita revived hopes of qualifying for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup.
