    WHAT HAPPENED?

After much speculation in the past weeks, Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thembinkosi Lorch has completed his transfer to Rhulani Mokwena's Wydad Athletic Club

The skillful player had become surplus to requirements at Masandawana under the new coach Miguel Cardoso following Manqoba Mngqithi's exit.

Consequently, Sundowns and Wydad have come to terms on a loan agreement for Lorch, enabling him to spend the rest of the 2024/25 season with the Moroccan giants.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lorch was reported to be heading to Kaizer Chiefs before the local January transfer window closed at midnight last Tuesday, however, the agreement between the two clubs did not come to fruition.

His loan transfer to the Red Castle occurred after he faced difficulties in gaining playing time at Sundowns - a club he joined in January 2024.

Lorch's transfer to Wydad means that he will be reuniting with Mokwena, who previously worked with him at Masandawana and Orlando Pirates.

Additionally, the 31-year-old striker will also join forces with his fellow countryman and Bafana Bafana international Cassius Mailula, who is likewise on loan from Toronto FC.

    WHAT NEXT?

Lorch will aim to assist Rhulani's Wydad to finish strongly in the Botola Pro League standings by securing a spot in the Caf Champions League

Nyoso, as the Bafana Bafana international is affectionately known, could make his debut for Wydad when they take on Hassania Agadir in a league match on February 9.
