    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Pitso Mosimane's Eshghlal FC drew 1-1 with log leaders Sepahan at home in the Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League on Thursday.

    The South African tactician's team has now gone for four consecutive draws, but they are undefeated in nine matches across all competitions and are 10th on the table while their opponents are second.

    New signing Masoud Juma scored Esteghlal's goal in the 22nd minute before Sepahan hit back with 16 minutes to go.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Juma joined Esteghlal in November 2024 and has so far played three league games.

    The 28-year-old Kenyan striker is a former Cape Town City player and played in the Premier Soccer League at a time when Mosimane was coaching Mamelodi Sundowns.

    Juma has sparked some form at a time when Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has been linked with a move to Esteghlal.
