Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk has completed a transfer move to the United Arab Emirates' first division side Gulf United.

The club has announced the acquisition of the striker after a successful period with them. The Netherlands-born star has been praised by his new side, who hope that he will write a success story with them.

"We are pleased to announce the addition of Lars Veldwijk to our team. A new star joins us, writing a new chapter in the club's history. Lars Veldwijk, with his outstanding performance and extensive experience, will be a strong addition to the team as we compete next season," Gulf United announced.

"After a phenomenal season at Gulf United, scoring 13 goals in 15 games, Lars was able to reignite his love for the game and scoring goals. A player who gave everything on and off the pitch, created countless memories, and earned the love and respect of everyone at the club," it added.

Veldwijk, 33, is a former Mamelodi Sundowns transfer target, but the Premier Soccer League side did not manage to get his services last year at their time of need.

The striker was offered a short-term deal by the Tshwane giants when he was a free agent.

Masandawana had been attracted by the striker because of his exploits with FC Suwon in the South Korean K-League.

At that point, Downs were eager to add a prolific striker to their ranks, but their mission to sign Veldwijk failed.

As Gulf United have shown that they have hope in the South African international, it is upon the striker to deliver even more.

His experience and scoring capability are expected to play vital roles for the ambitious club next season.
