WATCH: Benni McCarthy's Harambee Stars technical team made up of four South African trainers unveiled in Kenya and contract details revealed

Football Kenya Federation unveiled Benni McCarthy as their new head coach and announced the Bafana Bafana legend's technical team. 

McCarthy will work with Orlando Pirates legend Moeneeb Josephs, the goalkeeper coach, Vasili Manousakis, the assistant coach, and performance analyst Pilela Maposa.

It was disclosed last Friday that the four South African men would take charge of the Kenya national team, although they had yet to be officially unveiled.

On Monday afternoon, the FKF confirmed that McCarthy and his trusted technical team have signed two-year contracts to lead the Harambee Stars.

"After a rigorous selection process, we are confident that Benni McCarthy is the right person to lead our national team forward. His experience, vision, and commitment to developing Kenyan football align perfectly with our ambitions," FKF stated.

"Alongside him, we welcome Vasili Manousakis as Assistant Coach, Moeneeb Josephs as Goalkeepers Coach, and Pilela Maposa as Performance Analyst.

"This team brings a wealth of expertise, and we believe they will instil tactical discipline, structure, and a winning mentality as we prepare for upcoming competitions," the federation added.

"McCarthy and his team will immediately take charge as Kenya prepares for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Gambia and Gabon. Further details regarding training schedules and squad selections will be communicated in due course."

McCarthy, Josephs, Manousakis, and Maposa previously worked together at the Premier Soccer League club AmaZulu FC, where they led the team to the Caf Champions League group stage in the 2021/22 season.

Bafana Bafana's all-time leading goal scorer was without a club after parting ways with Premier League giants Manchester United in June 2024, where he served as a striker coach under Dutch coach Erik ten Hag.

The Uefa Champions League winner replaces Turkish manager Engin Fırat, who stepped down after failing to guide the Harambee Stars to the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.

McCarthy and his technical team's first task with Kenya will be an away fixture against Gambia in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The match will be followed by hosting Gabon six days later.
