    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs signed three forwards, Flavio Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro and Khanyisa during the current transfer window.

The trio joins other strikers like Wandile Duba, Ashley du Preez, Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo in what is expected to increase competition for game time between the forwards.

Duba, however, is not worried by the competition in that department as Chiefs are under pressure to have a prolific goal-scorer.

    WHAT DUBA SAID

“I think last season I did show that I’m ready for anything and willing to be Kaizer Chiefs number one striker,” said Duba as per iDiski Times.
“I’m happy now that there’s Etiosa [Ighodaro] and Flavio [Silva] that I will learn from because they have been there. They always coach me at training. I’m ready to be number one.
“Even last season with other strikers, they were pushing me to work hard and be the number one. So, I don’t think with them arriving, it will change a lot. I will still train hard and if I have to play, then I’ll be number one.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Duba has started four Premier Soccer League matches this season, a show of faith in him by the Amakhosi coaches, until he was injured and missed the trip to Golden Arrows.

But he is yet to score a goal, although he has provided an assist in the games he has taken part in.

Should he continue struggling for goals, that could see him being benched or missing in matchday squads.

    WHAT NEXT FOR DUBA?

Duba is working on his fitness and is racing to be available for the league game against Sekhukhune United on September 16.

If he is fit, it would be interesting to see if coach Nasreddine Nabi will start him after Silva scored on his Amakhosi debut the last time out.
