    WHAT HAPPENED?

Last season, Wandile Duba was among the club's star players and ended up the campaign with five goals and an assist across all competitions, with four coming in the Premier Soccer League.

The Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate is expected to be even better this season, with more quality signings added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This season, Duba has made four Premier Soccer League appearances with an assist to his name.

He also featured against Kabuscorp in the recent first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Duba concedes it is tough with Flavio Silva and Khanyisa Mayo in the mix, but he has promised to deliver.

The 21-year-old has further revealed how Mayo has helped him to get his goal-scoring form back.

    WHAT DUBA SAID

“I think I didn’t start my season very well, that’s why the coach ended up taking me out of the team," he told the media.

"I wasn’t giving him what he wanted. I’m still working on myself, being better, and getting back to the starting lineup.
“I think every coach needs a striker who scores for his team because Flavio [Silva] and Mayo got into the team and both scored," Duba continued.

"I wasn’t doing that. But with the tactics and everything, I think I was doing it very well, but it was just a matter of me hitting the net.
“I think we were playing against [Kabuscorp] in the CAF game. When we came back for the training session, Khanyisa Mayo came to me in the morning and was like, ‘You and I will work well together. If it means remaining behind together and practising shooting, I’m happy to do so'.

"With the kind of experience the new strikers have, I think I will learn a lot to get back to my best,” he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

With Etiosa Ighodaro, another striker at the club, Duba might find himself being played on the wing on several occasions.

Regardless of where he will be put, the assignment will be to positively impact the team, which will guarantee him regular football.
