USWNT icon Alex Morgan recreates Maria Sanchez fan photo 10 years on with pair now NWSL team-mates at San Diego Wave

Sanchez famously managed to grab a photo with Morgan back in 2014, before she turned pro, and posted it on social media with the message "best day of my life." The winger has gone on to enjoy an impressive career and has since linked up with Morgan at the San Diego Wave in a blockbuster trade back in April.

Morgan welcomed Sanchez to her new club by posting a photo of the original picture of the two with the message "2014-2024 we need an updated pic" to her new team-mate. The request has now been granted with Morgan showing off the updated image on social media.

The USWNT icon shared a new picture of the two players alongside the original photo that Sanchez took with the caption: "Nailed it."

The NWSL season is currently on hold due to the Summer Olympics, with San Diego Wave down in 10th place in the standings. Morgan had been expected to feature at the tournament with the USWNT but was surprisingly left out of Emma Hayes' roster.
