    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has been blowing hot and cold in Morocco.

After joining the Botola Pro League side Wydad Athletic Club from Mamelodi Sundowns, the 37-year-old was expected to have an immediate impact.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Red Castle registered a 2-2 draw with Ittihad Tanger in their league outing that left his team placed sixth on the table.

Wydad AC have managed to collect four wins, three draws, and as many losses meaning they are on 15 points, eight less than leaders Berkane.

Despite that, Mokwena insists there is a massive improvement, just that the media in North Africa is not keen to check the stats.

    WHAT MOKWENA SAID

"Guys, I speak to very seasoned and experienced journalists. You guys know football very well. I studied this team a lot and I can say to you guys please check the data," the South African said in a presser.

"Maybe there is one team that is outperforming us in numbers [but] we, by numbers even as early as the season, we are by far better than a lot of teams in the Botola, by far!

"Check out defensive data, check out the counter-press, check our regains, check the chances we create, the goals we’ve scored.

"Ok, maybe offensively there is still a lot of work to be done, but we don’t give clear chances, we don’t have… I’d rather keep quiet because I’m very upset today," Mokwena continued.

    AND WHAT IS MORE

The tactician further discussed the penalty issue, "You can’t ask me why every game we concede a penalty if you don’t want me to be honest.

"If you want me to be honest, okay, I talk about why we have a penalty every game. If you want me to be politically correct then next question.

"I can answer if you want me to answer," Mokwena concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

The international break comes at a better time for Mokwena to give him a chance to analyze his team's general play.

Mokwena conceded during his appointment that there is a lot of work needed in the team but he also has to find ways of getting positive results consistently.
