    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns are competing in the Premier Soccer League, Nedbank Cup and Caf Champions League.

On Sunday, they played their seventh game in barely a month but still beat Mpheni Defenders to advance to the Nedbank Cup quarter-final.

Sundowns are scheduled to play Marumo Gallants on Wednesday in the Premier Soccer League outing at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Club's coach Miguel Cardoso is unhappy with the way his team has been subjected to play many games in a span of days.

    WHAT CARDOSO SAID

"It will be a challenge because, as I said already, we have eight games in a row during one month; this is something that should never happen in football," he stated.

"Obviously it's not normal to happen, so until the FIFA break, we'll be playing every three or four days; it's not normal and not acceptable, it's very difficult to cope with.

"So I really hope that players can sustain their efforts, and most of our opponents will not be in this situation. I saw the other teams' calendars, and they will not be submitted to this kind of effort, while we will," Cardoso concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

As it was seen on Sunday, the fixture congestion has forced Cardoso and his technical staff to rotate his squad.

However, this might work against the team since sometimes it interferes with the flow of the game.

Nevertheless, Cardoso has a mandate to deliver owing to the quality at his disposal.

    WHAT NEXT?

In the match against Gallants, Sundowns have to give their best and ensure they collect maximum points after a defeat against TS Galaxy.

The defending Premier Soccer League champions have already played Gallants two times this season - in the league and Cup competitions, winning 4-1 and 2-0 respectively.
