    Defying Amakhosi coaches

Fiacre Ntwari refused to be substituted when Kaizer Chiefs were about to go to a penalty shootout with Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 last Sunday.

The Rwanda goalkeeper had a rare start, but when the coaches wanted to introduce Bruce Bvuma to take care of the penalties, he declined to go off the pitch.

He saved one kick, but Chiefs went on to lose and Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker says his players will never refuse to be taken out.

Would a Stellies player pull a Ntwari?

“A difficult question. I can’t really answer because I don’t think a player from our club would do that,” Barker said as per iDiski Times.

Have Chiefs coaches lost control of the dressing room?

Ntwari's defiance drew several opinions on the incident from fans while also birthing conspiracy theories about the state of the Amakhosi dressing room.

Some hailed Ntwari as a determined goalkeeper who was keen to help Chiefs during the penalties, hence his refusal to leave the pitch.

Others saw this as a clear indication that the Soweto giants' coaches have lost control of the dressing room, with players defying their instructions.

    What comes next?

It remains to be seen if Ntwari might have earned the faith of Chiefs coaches to start matches when they return from the FIFA.

There is also the possibility that he might have angered his coaches after he refused to be substituted.
