    WHAT HAPPENED?

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has given an injury update on the club's striker Bradley Grobler and midfielder Grant Margeman.

The veteran forward got injured against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 quarter-final, meanwhile, the ever-hardworking midfielder suffered a torn ACL injury at the start of the campaign.

Ahead of SuperSport United's crucial Premier Soccer League encounter against red-hot Chiefs, Hunt spoke about the injury status of Grobler and Margeman.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

"It’s the first time they trained with us, it’s a plus for us. Hopefully, we can start including them by being on the bench,” said Hunt, per FARPost.

"We haven’t played with a right-sided player in the pre-season and the whole season.

"So we had to make shifts and change the system and the shape of the team, and it has affected us, there’s no doubt. Hopefully, they come back, and we get in the game."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

SuperSport United's poor start to the 2024-25 season is evidence that Grobler and Margeman have been missed. Both players featured once in the MTN8 quarter-final against Pirates in August.

The two experienced players played considerable roles in the previous campaign - helping the Tshwane giants finish in position seven in the PSL standings.

Their absence has negatively affected Hunt's team as the club has had an awful start to the 2024-25 season. Matsatsantsa lost three times, won once, and shared the spoils once in the league so far.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GROBLER?

Considering that Grobler has just returned to training, it's clear that he will not be available for selection when SuperSport United faces Chiefs in Polokwane.

The striker will probably return to the starting line up after the November international break considering Hunt's suggestion.
