SuperSport United close to selling PSL status to Bloemfontein Celtic? Top official admits to Matsatsantsa problems - 'Our challenges in the league'

SuperSport United are rumoured to be up for sale, with a consortium keen on resuscitating Bloemfontein Celtic reportedly targeting to buy them.

Stanley Matthews, the Matsatsantsa chief executive officer, has reacted to the rumours.

Talking to FARPost, Matthews said Matsatsantsa are “focused on our challenges in the league.”

The SuperSport CEO said the subject of the club's status being up for sale “had been coming up since 2019 without any substance to date.

"This kind of speculation is not where any of our thoughts are occupied right now.”

Rumours of SuperSport's PSL status being sold to Celtic intensify amid the Tshwane side's struggles on the domestic front and this saw the club firing coach Gavin Hunt.

They are now assured to finish the season without any piece of silverware and are currently fighting against relegation.

Now under the tutelage of Andre Arendse, SuperSport are 13th on the table with three points more than 15th-placed Cape Town City.

Matsatsantsa are left with three league matches before the curtain comes down on this season's campaign.

After that, it remains to be seen if SuperSport will be put up for sale, especially if they manage to avoid relegation.
