Kaizer Chiefs beat Magesi FC by a solitary goal at the FNB Stadium to bolster their chances of finishing inside the top eight on the Premier Soccer League table.

It looked like spoils would be shared once again just like the initial meeting that ended 2-2.

In the 69th minute, substitute Ashley du Preez - who had come on for Ranga Chivaviro, initiated a one-two-pass with Glody Lilepo before giving Elvis Chipezeze no chance from 12 yards out.

Amakhosi remain eighth on the table with 28 points from 20 games, while Magesi are 15th with 17 points from 21 matches.

    THE MVP

One player who has underlined his worth at Chiefs is Congolese import Glody Lilepo.

He was dangerous in the final third whenever he was on the ball, and delivered some good passes.

His precise assist was well placed, from which Du Preez scored the lone goal.

    THE BIG LOSER

As usual, goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze did his best to ensure his team stood a chance to get at least a point.

He pulled some good saves at the FNB Stadium, only to be beaten by Du Preez.

The veteran keeper didn't deserve to be on the losing end.
