The Carling Knockout's Round of 16 kicked off on Friday, with teams in the Premier Soccer League competing against each other.

Among the sides that are battling for the millions of Rands are Kaizer Chiefs, who will be away playing Stellenbosch.

The game will be played at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is the fifth time since last season the two sides have met across all competitions.

The Soweto giants have won all the matches, explaining why Steve Barker's men might come into the game under pressure to deliver.

Amakhosi's latest triumph over Stellies was in the Premier Soccer League a couple of weeks ago. Siviwe Nkwali was sent off in the 13th minute, which gave Chiefs the numerical advantage.

Nkonsingiphile Ngcobo and Glody Lilepo won it for their team.

    WHAT BARKER SAID

"In the first encounter, when we got the red card early in the game, it changed the whole complexion of the fixture," he said as quoted by Stellies media team.
"But Chiefs have shown this season that they have improved and that they are very competitive.

"They’ve got some really good individuals and a certain way that they are looking to play, so we are expecting nothing but a tough game," Barker added.
"It’s up to us to concentrate on what we can do and on what we’re good at.

"We’ve got to improve in certain areas, and we’ve been working hard on those in training, and hopefully, with it being a Cup game, we can take the opportunity to get into a quarter-final," the tactician concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Having failed in the MTN8, Barker hopes to make a statement in the Carling Knockout, a competition they won two seasons ago.

However, Chiefs ant to capitalise on this chance after failing to make the MTN8 by virtue of finishing ninth last season.
