Left-back Fawaaz Basadien struck as early as the second minute into the contest to put the home side into the lead.

Nkosikhona Radebe hit back to rescue a point for TS Galaxy with 18 minutes to go but that was not enough to stop the Rockets coach Sead Ramovic from resigning.

It was a missed opportunity by Stellenbosch to go third on the standings and stay in close check of leaders Orlando Pirates and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Maroons remain fourth on the table with nine points fewer than the Buccaneers and six less than Sundowns while TS Galaxy remain rooted at the foot of the table in what forced Ramovic out of the club after three seasons.

    THE MVP

Basadien was instrumental in this match, scoring a goal and then helping in the spirited defending to keep at bay the desperate TS Galaxy.

The Bafana Bafana defender lasted the entire match and justified his presence on the pitch.

    THE BIG LOSER

It has been a difficult season for the Rockets who remain winless in the league this season and anchor the PSL table.

That run of form saw Ramovic stepping down as TS Galaxy coach after guiding his side to six winless matches, during which they had collected just two points.

    WHAT COMES NEXT?

Stellenbosch will take a long break from competitive football following their exit from the Carling Knockout as defending champions.

They return to take part in a Caf Confederation Cup match, visiting Stade Malien Bamako for a November 28 fixture.

TS Galaxy will also have a long break and visit Sekhukhune United for a PSL match on November 26 and that gives them ample time to appoint a new coach.
