Kaizer Chiefs' winless run in the Premier Soccer League extended to six games after a 2-1 loss against Marumo Gallants on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams looked hungry in early proceedings, but it was Glody Lilepo who showed his individual brilliance to get himself into a good area before unleashing a rocket that flew past Washington Arubi to give the hosts a 10th-minute lead.

In the 41st minute, Bruce Bvuma punched Daniel Msendami's shot as far as Trevor Mathiane, who tapped the ball into an empty net to ensure spoils were shared in the first half.

Wandile Duba had a massive chance to restore Chiefs' lead, but his effort came off the upright, with Du Preez failing to guide the rebound into an empty net.

Amakhosi paid the price in the 70th minute when a seemingly harmless free-kick from Msendami bounced in front of indecisive Bvuma and into the net.

Chiefs are now ninth on the table with 30 points, a position higher than Gallants, who are on the same number of points as well but with an inferior goal difference.

It was a sweet revenge for the visitors who lost the initial league meeting by the same 2-1 score line.

    THE MVP

Zimbabwe international Daniel Msendami had a near-perfect game at the FNB Stadium, pushing forward with every chance he got.

He was involved in the two goals his team scored, getting the vital second that won his team maximum points.

    THE BIG LOSER

Imagine your team struggling to keep their slim lead, but you mess up when they need you most.

It was the case with Bruce Bvuma, who could have done better with Msendami's effort.

He just couldn't punch it closer to his goal where Gallants' players were waiting to pounce on the rebound.

The custodian then conceded another unnecessary goal when he allowed the ball to bounce in front of him and into the net.
