Kaizer Chiefs saw plenty of possession in the early stages, but it was Polokwane City who created the better chances, with Brandon Petersen forced into two sharp saves inside the opening 15 minutes.
The Soweto giants had to wait until the 27th minute for their first meaningful attempt, when Glody Lilepo found time and space outside the box and unleashed a powerful strike that tested goalkeeper Okoth Bwire. Lilepo went even closer ten minutes before the break, rising to meet a Gaston Sirino corner and crashing a towering header against the crossbar, with Bwire rooted to the spot. The sides went into the halftime break deadlocked at 0-0.
The early stages of the second half mirrored the first, with both teams testing their luck. In the 78th minute, however, Siphesihle Ndlovu fired home to hand Chiefs the lead.
The 1-0 scoreline proved enough for back-to-back PSL victories, lifting them to second place on the log.
