Sekhukhune United announce appointment of former Orlando Pirates duo Eric Tinkler and Marc Van Heeden after parting ways with Lehlohonolo Seema

Sekhukhune United have officially appointed Eric Tinkler as their new head coach, his arrival follows weeks of speculation linking him to the club. This decision comes after the departure of Lehlohonolo Seema, who had a successful stint.

Seema guided Babina Noko to a top-five position in the league; he also led them to a great Nedbank Cup run and they will face Mamelodi Sundowns.

Marc Van Heerden joins Tinkler’s technical team as an assistant coach. Club chairman Simon Malatji expressed his excitement about the former Bafana Bafana midfielder's appointment. He has been without a job since his departure from Cape Town City in December.

Sekhukhune United are aiming for a Caf competition spot next season, the team also hopes to improve on their 2024 continental campaign.

They are currently in the top five of the league standings. Babina Noko are also still competing in the Nedbank Cup.

Tinkler’s experience at Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City makes him a valuable addition. With 10 league games remaining, they need consistent performances; a strong finish could secure continental football for next season.

Sekhukhune United will face Marumo Gallants in their next league match. They are looking to recover after two consecutive league defeats.

Gallants come into the match in high spirits after reaching the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, where they will face defending champions Orlando Pirates. Sekhukhune previously beat them 1-0 in the first round and will be hoping for a double in Bloemfontein.
