    WHAT HAPPENED?

Rhulani Mokwena has been clubless since his exit from the Botola Pro League outfit Wydad Athletic Club.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician played a crucial role in helping the Moroccan side finish third on the table, three positions higher than the previous campaign.

However, he left on mutual consent since some stakeholders felt he wasn't the right man for the job.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Algerian heavyweights MC Alger have already sealed the services of the 38-year-old, who only wanted to work for a top club and compete on the continent.

The People's Club won a domestic double and will once again be dining with the big boys on the continent.

Mokwena is aware he doesn't have much time at his new club, but to start delivering as soon as possible.

The tactician is determined to help the club hit greater heights in CAF competitions.

    WHAT MOKWENA SAID

"I am very happy to be here. I joined a team that won the league title in the last two seasons, and this is very important," he told the media.

"But the task now will be to defend these titles and strive to go further on the continental level.
"It is natural to build a project step by step, but I know that time does not wait in North Africa, so we will work quickly to achieve our set goals," Mokwena added.

"The fans expect results, victories, and good performance from us.
"We aspire to become one of the best teams in Africa. We have a group of important pillars, and we will work to strengthen them with quality signings.

"We are working quietly and confidentially with President Hadj Redjem," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

The first assignment for Mokwena will be to get the team he believes he can deliver with, as he admits in the above quotes.

CAF Champions League trophy is arguably the main target for the club, explaining why they appointed him as the head coach.
