    WHAT HAPPENED?

Wydad Athletic Club coach Rhulani Mokwena has praised Cassius Mailula and slammed supporters' criticism after the club's win over FUS Rabat.

Mailula was introduced in the second half during the Botola Pro League match against FUS Rabat on Sunday evening and scored the winning goal a few minutes before the final whistle.

However, before the South African footballer netted the goal, Mokwena's decision to field him did not go down too well with some Wydad fans.

In a post-match press conference, Mokwena came out and defended his decision to introduce the youngster and lavished praise on him.

    WHAT MOKWENA SAID

"The best thing is when they say, 'no, no Cassius' and Cassius scores and creates two opportunities, and the disallowed one was also from Cassius," Mokwena told the media.

"Sometimes we see why we are coaches and why there are supporters. In some games, we get it right and in some games, we get it wrong.

"Most of the time we get it wrong, but when we get it right it feels good. I'm proud of the effort from the players."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mailula reunited with his former coach Mokwena at Wydad Casablanca after joining the club on loan from MLS side Toronto FC at the start of the season.

The 23-year-old tricky forward has been struggling to score goals for the Moroccan giants and the club's fans have seemingly started to lose trust in him.

His loss of form saw him lose space in the Bafana Bafana team led by Belgian mentor Hugo Broos.

    WHAT NEXT?

Mailula will be hoping for more game time in Mokwena's team and bag goals going forward. Wydad will host Ittihad Tanger on Sunday, November 10.

Moreover, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star will look to improve his game and return to the Bafana squad soon.
