Relebohile Mofokeng told to 'relax' as transfer rumours intensify following Orlando Pirates ex-teammate Mohau Nkota's move to Saudi Arabia

The two Bafana Bafana starlets burst onto the scene at different times but the one who came on later has secured a move abroad ahead of the one already who arrived first.

    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng has been a subject of transfer speculation, linked with moves to the Premier League, La Liga and Israel.

    But he remains a Buccaneers player after three seasons of impressive football, as he watched attacking partner Mohau Nkota recently making a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq after just one term in the Premier Soccer League.

    However, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Michael Nkambule has told Mofokeng to wait for his time.

    WHAT NKAMBULE SAID

    "For Rele, I think he needs to continue doing his work the way he has been doing," said Nkambule as per KickOff.

    "The years still allow him. It's not like it was his last season or something. He still has a big chance, he can still play another 15 years to 20 years

    "He just needs to relax and play football. If you check the profile of Rele and Nkota, it's not the same.

    "Rele's profile is stronger than Nkota, that's why I think it won't affect him that much because Nkota has left," added the former South Africa junior international.

    "But if you check he's going where, Saudi Arabia, it's not like he went to Europe in top five leagues. 

    "Rele is a star player and the face of Orlando Pirates now and for him to leave it won't be easy because for Nkota (Ettifaq) to negotiate with Dr Khoza was maybe easy, but for Rele, he's going to want a lot of money. He's special that boy."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    There is still a huge possibility that Mofokeng could make a move to Europe this transfer window, as transfer speculation around him continues to swell.

    That could explain why Pirates signed Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City as a possible replacement for Mofokeng.

    Interestingly, Mofokeng burst onto the scene first before Nkota came in last season, but it is the latter who is now playing his trade abroad.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MOFOKENG?

    As Mofokeng continues to be linked with overseas clubs, it is to be seen if he will make a move before the start of the new season.

    But for now, his focus is on helping Pirates get past Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-finals as they bid to defend this trophy.
