Sundowns’ first offer for Matheusinho rejected

Despite Mamelodi Sundowns’ first attempt, Recife quickly dismissed the approach, unwilling to part ways with the playmaker so soon after signing him in July on a loan deal that carries an obligation to buy.

The agreement runs until June 2026, and if the Brazilian side chooses to activate the option, they will secure him permanently for €1m (about R20m).

However, it has been reported that Sundowns are not backing down, having submitted an improved offer.

Matheusinho to help Recife in dire situation

The 27-year-old has made eight appearances for Recife, contributing one goal and two assists.

With the club rooted to the bottom of the table on just 10 points after only one win in 20 matches, Recife see Matheusinho as a key figure in their battle to avoid relegation.

While Sundowns continue their pursuit of Matheusinho, the Brazilians must also turn their attention back to Premier Soccer League duty.
