    WHAT HAPPENED?

Pule Mmodi has recently established himself as a key Kaizer Chiefs player after starting the season as a fringe player.

Former Amakhosi forward Siyabonga Nkosi has explained what he thinks is making Mmodi struggle to flourish at Chiefs.

    WHAT NKOSI SAID

"My biggest problem with Pule Mmodi in the last few games is that he doesn't seem keen to share the ball with other players and hence, he doesn't play properly," Nkosi said as per KickOff.

"But he did that in the first half [against Chippa] and that is why I say [Gaston] Sirino is very important to this Kaizer Chiefs team because he encourages the players around him to share the ball, to look for one another.

"Pule did that, he even set up a great opportunity in the first half for Tashreeq Morris, I think," the former Bloemfontein Celtic forward added.

"But in the second half, when Sirino was not there, he started messing around.

"He's got that [ability], that when it comes to one-on-one situations,  you can count on him, he will get past. But he's got good teammates around him and whenever you have good teammates around you...

"It also helps to have a Thabo Cele, who is that type of player that influences everyone else to share the ball."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mmodi started the season in a slow manner as he struggled for game time due to form and fitness issues.

But he has now picked himself up, so far managing 12 appearances across all competitions scoring three goals although yet to make an assist.

Continuing to enjoy some game time and improving his performances would be crucial for Mmodi to return to Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana squad.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MMODI?

After being on target in last weekend's 3-0 win over Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup, Mmodi would want to use that as a boost as Chiefs host SuperSport United in a Premier Soccer League match on Tuesday.

It is a match he is likely to start as Nabi has now shown faith in the attacker.
