    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe has pointed out key differences between him and Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Shalulile.

The comparison comes barely days after Shalulile became the Premier Soccer League's top scorer after he netted his 130th goal.

Nomvethe, who also played for Chiefs' arch-rivals, Orlando Pirates, said he had more speed and could dribble, something he says the Namibian cannot do.

    WHAT NOMVETHE SAID

“We are totally different because he does not have the skill and the speed that I had,” Nomvethe told iDiski Times.

“He can’t dribble or fetch the ball from the back like I used to. But for his side, he knows how to position himself, and he knows how to find the net.

“Look, he is still playing, and though I don’t know how many goals he will continue to score, I am sure he will score more. The league season has only just started, so he will add more.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Shalulile established himself as a PSL great after he scored his record-breaking goal on August 30, when his strike gave Sundowns a slim 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch.

In the previous match against Magesi FC, the former Highlands Park FC forward scored the goal that equalled Nomvethe's record. From then, it became a question of when, not if, he would become the league's all-time top scorer.

Before it was shattered, Nomvethe's record stood for six years.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SHALULILE?

Given that he is still active and is serving Sundowns, the Namibian is set to score more and extend his tally even further.

With Lucas Ribeiro, last season's Golden Boot winner, determined to end his Sundowns stay, it means that Shalulile might end up getting more minutes, as there will be no stiff competition like in the previous seasons.
