Orlando Pirates told 'there is no need to sign more players' as the club is capable of competing against Mamelodi Sundowns

Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale has asked his former Premier Soccer League club not to sign more players. 

Magents, as the former Sea Robber captain is famously known, believes Bucs have a deep squad that is capable of winning titles.

“The squad is competitive enough to compete with Sundowns for the league, so there is no need to sign more players," Motale told FARPost.

“No, we don’t need to beef up; we have over 10 new players in the team, and all the coach has to do is to ensure that they all gel together, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, as about five new players that he (Abdeslam Ouaddou) has introduced are gelling very well. The rest need to come on board,” he added. 

Pirates have signed 10 players during the ongoing window, and a number of them have played crucial roles so far.

Sipho Mbule, Sihle Nduli, Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi, and Kamogelo Sebelebele have been outstanding this season. Indeed, Moremi scored a brace that helped Bucs seal a historical MTN8 trophy.

To reach the final, Sebelebele scored against Sundowns in both legs of the semi-final. Mbule, although he came with a lot of off-pitch issues surrounding him, has established himself as a key squad player. The same case applies to Nduli, a dependable midfield figure for the Soweto giants under coach Ouaddou.   

The window will shut on September 22 and that means Bucs have a day to complete pending deals, if any.   

In the last three seasons under Jose Riveiro, the Buccaneers were so close, but Sundowns weathered the storm and defended the league title.

Bucs look to have regained their mojo and are sending signals that they are a danger, ready to compete and sweep trophies in front of them.
