Orlando Pirates slayer appointed as Botswana head coach after guiding the Zebra's to the 2025 Afcon finals

Botswana Football Association President, Mr. Oabile Tariq Babitseng, announced that Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli will lead the Senior National Team to Afcon 2025 in Morocco.

Ramoreboli, who served as interim coach during the qualifiers, guided the Zebras to a second-place finish in Group C behind leaders Egypt.

This achievement marks Botswana’s return to Afcon after a 12-year hiatus. The 42-year-old coach officially takes over just four days before the Afcon draw takes place in Rabat, Morocco.

The South African coach brings an impressive track record, leading Bafana Bafana to a Cosafa Cup win in Gqeberha, winning the Botswana Premier League twice, qualifying for the CAF Champions League twice and, of course, knocking out Orlando Pirates with Jwaneng Galaxy in the prelims of the 2023 Caf Champions League. His experience makes him the ideal candidate to lead the Zebras in Morocco.

Ramoreboli’s next challenge is a Fifa World Cup qualifier, where Botswana will host Algeria on March 17 and Somalia on March 24. The team currently sits in third place in Group G with six points after four games, aiming to improve their position and catch Algeria and Mozambique who are both on nine points.
