    TELL ME MORE

Orlando Pirates were held to a 1-1 draw by Stade d'Abidjan in the Caf Champions League clash on Saturday evening at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny Stadium.

Both teams commenced the match with enthusiasm, yet they failed to take advantage of the opportunities they created.

Nonetheless, Evidence Makgopa scored the first goal for Bucs from the penalty spot just in the stoppage time of the first half after Relebohile Mofokeng was fouled in the penalty area.

Ousmane Meite equalised for Les Yéyés in the 53rd minute. Although Jose Riveiro's star-studded team put their utmost effort in search of a winning goal, they couldn't score the winning goal and they ultimately obtained a crucial point away from home.

The result sees Pirates climb up to the top of the Group C standings - a point above second-placed Al Ahly who have a game in hand.

    THE MVP

Nkosinathi Sibisi, Thabiso Sesane, Mohau Nkota, along with several other Pirates players, performed well in Abidjan on the night.

However, Mofokeng merits greater recognition than any other player for his outstanding performance, having caused d'Abidjan to concede a penalty through his clever maneuvers.

    THE BIG LOSER

After taking a lead before half-time, Pirates would have hoped to double their lead after the restart in order to make things even more difficult for d'Abidjan and ultimately secure the win.

Nonetheless, things did not unfold as they would have anticipated, therefore, Riveiro and his team should feel disappointed for not safeguarding their goal in the second half, and defeating Group C's whipping boys.
