    WHAT HAPPENED?

Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane did not have their contracts extended by Orlando Pirates and are free agents.

They have been heavily linked with a move to the Buccaneers' arch-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.

Former Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has slammed Mako and Monyane, although Amakhosi are yet to officially announce the signing of the wing-backs.

    WHAT JOSEPHS SAID

“The boys these days go where there’s money," Josephs said on Soccer Beat.

"I wanted to make a video the other day and say thanks to the boys for everything, but I saw where they went [Chiefs].

“I mean, these boys don’t have ambitions after crossing the road like that. The team on the yellow side will be posting our players. There’s no loyalty in this game anymore and pride for the badge anymore.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the event Amakhosi officially announce the signing of Mako and Monyane, Chiefs fans could comfort themselves with the fact that the two were regulars, although the latter struggled with injuries last season.

The departure of Edmilson Dove, although he was mostly used as a centre-back, and the struggles of Bongani Sam, could have brought the need to sign a left-back.

Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons could be challenged by the possible arrival of Monyane.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi have started their pre-season training after regrouping on Friday.

It is to be seen if Monyane and Mako will be spotted at Naturena this week as Nasreddine Nabi and his men prepare to go and camp in the Netherlands.
